We are a long-time provider of a wide range of reliable Atlanta tree services. In that time, we have developed a keen appreciation of the vital role these rooted wonders play in the health of the planet and in our very existence, which is why we are committed advocates of proper tree care.

As a member of The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), we support the organization’s beliefs concerning correct tree care and the responsible dissemination of this knowledge. This respected international body promotes the professional practice of arboriculture through research, technology and education.

The Early Years of ISA

The first meeting of the group that was to eventually become the ISA took place in 1924 at the Stamford, Connecticut, farm of Francis Bartlett. Bartlett was then the president of F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert Company. Several topic experts, many of them scientists, presented papers on a variety of subjects that addressed the important agricultural issues at that time. The attendees formed The Shade Tree Conference (STC), which had 36 members.

Continued Growth

By the 1930s, STC became known as the National Shade Tree Conference (NSTC). It continued to grow as a professional organization despite the difficulties brought on by the Great Depression in the United States and the first World War. It was during this time that it began the practice of sponsoring research projects and slowly but surely professionalizing the ranks of the arboriculture industry.

International Status

Due to the group’s enormous success, it became necessary to organize several state and regional chapters throughout the country. In 1961, at the insistence of its Canadian members, NSTC became officially known as ISTC, the International Shade Tree Conference. Fifteen years later in 1976, it again changed its name to the International Society of Arboriculture, or the ISA. This name reflects not only its international reach but also its central role in the arboriculture profession and industry. Through groundbreaking research and education in the field of arboriculture, ISA carries out its mission of properly caring for and understanding trees to this day.
